PMIS Intern
Shantanu Debbarma
Geography (Hons) • Maharaja Bir Bikram College
A rewarding internship experience that strengthened my professional skills and understanding of HR management.
My name is Shantanu Debbarma. I am from Agartala,
Tripura, and I worked as an intern in the HR
(Human Resource) section at the Oil and Natural Gas
Corporation (ONGC), Tripura Asset under the Prime
Minister's Internship Scheme.
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Geography from
Maharaja Bir Bikram College, Tripura.
During my internship at ONGC, I completed the Mine
Vocational Training (MVT), where I learned aspects
of field safety, work rules and discipline.
Along with MVT, I also participated in Soft Skills
Training that covered communication, MS Office,
time-management and problem-solving.
My HR-Department responsibilities have spanned across
HRD, Establishment, Hospitality, Retired Employee
Services, Estates, CSR and now IR.
In each section I have participated in meetings,
handled files, learned operational workflow and
visited different HR units to deepen my understanding
of human-resource management in a large organisation
like ONGC.
In the IR (Industrial Relations) section, I am learning
about employee relations, managing interactions between
management and employees, grievance redressal,
compliance with labour laws and maintaining healthy
industrial relations climate.
I express my sincere gratitude to the Prime Minister's
Internship Scheme for this tremendous opportunity.
PMIS Intern
Mridul Dey
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering • TTAADC Polytechnic Institute
A valuable internship that provided practical exposure to drilling services, cementing operations and rig operations.
My name is Mridul Dey, and I worked as a Mechanical
Intern under the Prime Minister Internship Scheme
(PMIS) at ONGC, Tripura Asset.
I have completed my Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
from TTAADC Polytechnic Institute.
At the beginning of my internship, we were introduced
to ONGC — its operations, vision and significant
contribution to the energy sector.
This was followed by Mine Vocational Training and
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) training, which
emphasized the importance of safety, discipline and
compliance in the oil and gas industry.
Additionally, we received soft skills training that
helped improve our communication and professional
conduct in the workplace.
Then in the Specialized Service Group (SSG) under
Drilling Services, I learned about different types of
drill bits, the process of bit selection, nozzle
changing procedures and the concept of Rate of
Penetration (ROP).
Following that, I joined Drilling Fluid Services,
specifically in the cementing laboratory, where I
learned how to design cement slurry, determine
Thickening Time (TT) using high-temperature and
high-consistency meters, and measure cement strength
through ultrasonic testing equipment.
This experience deepened my understanding of how
drilling fluids and cementing operations contribute
to well stability and safety.
Subsequently, I was assigned to the Crisis Management
Team (CMT), where I learned about Blowout Preventers
(BOPs), choke and kill manifolds, pressure test units
and BOP accumulator systems.
After completing my CMT assignment, I was posted to
Rig E-1400-M1 for three months, where I gained
extensive hands-on experience in rig operations.
Throughout this journey, my seniors, supervisors and
mentors have been extremely supportive and encouraging.
This internship has greatly enhanced my technical
knowledge, practical skills and confidence in real-time
field operations.
I am sincerely thankful to the Honourable Prime
Minister of India and ONGC for launching this
remarkable internship scheme.
It has provided young engineers like me with an
excellent platform to learn, grow and contribute
to nation-building.
PMIS Intern
Susmita Saha
B.Sc. in Physics • Ramthakur College
A valuable internship experience offering practical exposure to petroleum engineering and reservoir management.
I am Susmita Saha, a graduate in Physics from
Ramthakur College.
I worked as a Reservoir Intern under the Prime
Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS) at ONGC,
Tripura Asset.
This internship has been a valuable opportunity for
me to gain practical exposure in the field of
petroleum engineering and reservoir management.
The internship began with two weeks of theoretical
training, which included Mine Vocational Training
(MVT) and Soft Skill Development Training.
These sessions provided an overview of ONGC's
operations, safety measures and professional skill
enhancement modules that focused on communication,
teamwork, leadership and time management.
After completing the initial training, I was posted
as a Reservoir Intern in the Sub-Surface Team.
During this phase, I learned about various technical
aspects related to petroleum and reservoir engineering.
In addition to the technical knowledge I gained,
this internship significantly helped me enhance my
time-management, leadership, teamwork and
communication skills.
These soft skills have strengthened my overall
professional development and boosted my confidence.
